Custom Printed Wax Paper Sheets

Printed wax paper sheets are flat dry wax squares that carry your mark on the outside and release food cleanly on the inside. They line a tray, wrap a cold sandwich or separate layers in a box, and they come in the same three sizes as our deli paper.

What Are Printed Wax Paper Sheets?

Printed wax paper sheets are squares of dry wax paper, white or kraft, printed on the outside face with your logo or a repeat pattern. Dry wax has a soft hand and a faint sheen, and it is made for cold and warm holds rather than the oven or microwave. Kitchens use the sheets as wraps, liners and dividers.

What a dry wax sheet does that plain deli paper cannot

Dry wax has a thin wax finish worked into the sheet. Icing, cheese and cold cuts let go of it without tearing. Plain paper grabs them. That release is the whole reason to pick this sheet over grease-resistant stock for a cold case.

Delis wrap cold subs and sliced meats in it. Bakeries use it under cupcakes and between cookie layers. Candy counters and chocolatiers line boxes with it. Sandwich shops that pre-wrap for a grab-and-go fridge use it because the sheet keeps the bread from drying out.

The first photo shows the raw material: a roll of unprinted dry wax, slightly translucent, with the faint sheen that marks the stock. The printed sheets on this page start from the same paper, cut square and printed on one face.

White or kraft dry wax: how do the two print?

White dry wax is the brighter base. Pastel and full-color art reads true on it, which is why the pink repeat in the second photo and the fruit pattern in the third both sit on white or cream stock. Three spot colors or full color both work.

Kraft dry wax is warmer and a shade darker. It takes one, two or three spot colors, and white ink on it looks like a stamp. Bright pink or yellow goes muddy on kraft, so keep those for white.

Both stocks are a little translucent, more so than grease-resistant paper. Dark food behind the sheet shows faintly through a light print. Heavier ink coverage hides it; a fine line pattern does not. The stocks guide comparing dry wax and grease-resistant shows the difference in photos.

Which wax sheet size wraps a cold sub or lines a pastry tray?

Dry wax drapes softer than grease-resistant paper, so a size that feels tight on kraft feels right on wax.

  • 12 x 12: a single sandwich, a cupcake liner, a divider between cookie layers, a square under a slice of cake
  • 12 x 15: a cold six-inch sub with ends tucked, a pastry tray liner, a wrap for a wedge of cheese
  • 15 x 15: a footlong sub, a whole loaf, a sheet that lines a half tray with overhang
  • Custom: full sheet-pan liners, box inserts and long strips for a deli slicer, quoted on request

A deli counter that wraps subs and sliced meats should run 12 x 15 and 15 x 15. A bakery lining trays can stop at 12 x 12. Every cut size is listed on the page of deli paper sheet sizes.

Patterns that survive a fold on translucent paper

A repeat pattern is the default, and on dry wax it does a second job: it adds coverage, which reduces the see-through. The pink repeat in the second photo is light but even, so every fold shows a little of it.

Full-color repeats on white dry wax are a bakery favorite. The fruit pattern in the third photo is the kind of thing that works: small elements, no hard edges, plenty of color. Fine hairlines soften on wax paper, so the proof thickens them before anything prints.

A centered logo suits a box liner that stays flat under a lid. A corner mark suits a wrap where you want the mark showing on the outside of the final fold. The logo printing guide on repeats and coverage walks through all three.

Can printed wax paper sheets take a warm sandwich?

Yes, for a warm hold. A pressed sandwich straight off the grill, wrapped and set under a lamp for twenty minutes, is fine. The wax finish softens a little with heat and the sheet stays closed.

No, for the oven and microwave. Dry wax is for cold and warm holds only. If a customer might reheat the sandwich, tell them to unwrap it first; a printed note on the sheet is one way to say so.

Cold is where dry wax is at its best. A refrigerated sub wrapped in it sweats a little, the sheet holds that moisture, and the bread stays soft for hours. Grease-resistant paper would let it dry out faster.

Jobs for the same printed sheet across a day of service

One printed wax sheet, one case, several uses. This is roughly how a deli or bakery moves through a case.

TimeJobSheet
OpeningLine pastry trays and cookie boxes12 x 12 flat or 12 x 15 with overhang
LunchWrap cold subs for the grab-and-go case12 x 15 with ends tucked
AfternoonDivide layers in a boxed dozen12 x 12 between each layer
CloseCover sliced meats and cheese in the walk-in15 x 15 laid over the pan

Each of those is a moment where a customer or a cook sees your print. A plain sheet does the same job and says nothing.

Storing and reordering wax sheets without them sticking

Dry wax sheets cling to each other in humid air. Keep cases closed, off the floor and away from the dish pit and the proofer. A dispenser carton with a lip, like the ones in the photos above, lets staff pull one sheet at a time.

Reorders go from the approved proof on file: give us the size and the quantity and the run goes to press. Watch the case before a holiday weekend; wax sheets run out fastest when the cold case is full.

If you want the same print on a bag, the dry wax bags for cookies and pastries page shows the matching stock in bag form.

Common errors on a first run of printed wax paper

  1. Using dry wax to wrap a hot, greasy burger. The sheet marks fast. That item wants grease-resistant stock.
  2. Choosing a fine, thin-line pattern on translucent stock. Food shows through. A heavier repeat hides it.
  3. Picking 12 x 12 for a footlong sub. It will not meet in the middle. Use 15 x 15.
  4. Expecting bright pink on kraft dry wax. It goes dull. Print it on white.
  5. Storing opened cases beside the dishwasher. Sheets stick together within a week.

What is the minimum for printed wax paper sheets?

The floor is 1,000 sheets per size and print run. A second size is a second run, even with the same art.

Can I get a plain dry wax sample before ordering printed sheets?

Yes. Ask when you request your quote and a sample of white or kraft dry wax goes out so you can feel the hand and check the translucence.

Who do I talk to about an unusual wax sheet size?

Send the dimensions through the contact page for Deli Papers or email info@delipapers.com. Custom sizes are quoted on request in the same written quote.
