Custom Printed Food Wrapping Paper

Food wrapping paper is the plain square sheet that does most of the work on a counter: it closes around a hot sandwich, lines a basket and sits under a slice. Print it with your mark and every order that leaves the window carries your name instead of a blank white square.

What Are Food Wrapping Paper?

Food wrapping paper is a square or rectangular sheet of grease-resistant, dry wax or kraft paper that you fold around food or lay under it. The outside face carries your print in food-safe soy or water-based ink; the side that touches the food stays unprinted. Most kitchens use it as a wrap, a liner and a serving sheet from the same case.

Who reaches for food wrapping paper every shift

Sub shops wrap a hot hoagie in it and the sheet takes the squeeze. Delis lay it under a pastrami stack so the board stays clean. Burger counters, taquerias and barbecue windows use the same sheet as a wrap one minute and a tray liner the next.

Food trucks like it because one case covers almost every item on the menu. Concession stands put it under nachos and pretzels. Multi-location groups order it printed so each store hands out the same look without every manager chasing a supplier.

If you already buy blank sheets, a printed run replaces them one for one. Same fold, same shelf, your mark on top. The ways restaurants use printed deli paper guide walks through counter service in more detail.

Which stock should your food wrapping paper be on?

Four stocks cover almost every wrapping job. Pick by what the food does to the paper, not by what looks nicest on a screen.

StockHow it looks and feelsWhere it earns its place
Grease-resistant whiteBright, smooth, slightly matteBurgers, fried chicken, anything that would leave a dark spot on plain paper
Grease-resistant kraftWarm brown, matte, hides spotsBarbecue, smashburgers, hand-cut fries
Dry waxSoft hand, faint sheen, folds without crackingCold subs, pastries, sandwiches held under a lamp
Natural kraftFirm fold, visible fiberDry items, bread, a liner under a tray

Most burger and sandwich counters should start with grease-resistant white or kraft. Dry wax is the better pick for cold holds and anything with a glaze. Black stock with white ink is a strong look for a smokehouse, but it shows salt and flour, so keep it away from dusted items.

Does a 12 x 12 sheet close around a double sandwich?

A 12 x 12 sheet closes a single burger or a six-inch sub with room to tuck. Stack a double or a loaded footlong and the corners stop meeting. That is when you step up a size.

  • 12 x 12: single burgers, half sandwiches, basket and tray liner, a slice of pizza
  • 12 x 15: footlong subs, wraps, two tacos side by side, bowls lined before filling
  • 15 x 15: double burgers, loaded burritos, whole sandwiches cut in half and rewrapped as one
  • Custom: trimmed to a tray, a box insert or a sheet pan on request

Many kitchens run two sizes and nothing else. If you only want one, 12 x 15 covers the most menu items without wasting paper on a slice. The size comparison for the three sheet sizes shows each fold step by step.

Repeat, corner mark or centered logo on a wrapped sheet

There is a reason the repeat pattern is our default. Once the sheet is folded around food, only a few square inches stay visible, and a repeat puts your mark on every one of them. The second photo above shows how a small icon repeat still reads on a tightly wrapped sandwich.

A centered logo looks good on a flat sheet and vanishes the moment the sheet is folded. Use it on liners and serving sheets that stay open. A corner mark sits quietly at one edge and works well with a pattern around it, which is how the citrus sheets in the first photo are set up.

You can combine the two: a light repeat across the whole sheet and a larger logo in the center for the liner jobs. Place your own file on a real sheet photo on the Design Your Deli Paper page before you ask for a quote.

How does food wrapping paper hold up hot, cold, boxed and bagged?

Hot: a burger straight off the flat-top steams inside the wrap. Grease-resistant stock keeps the outside dry and the print clean. Dry wax copes with a warm hold under a lamp but is not for the oven or microwave.

Cold: a chilled deli sandwich sweats a little inside wax paper, which is exactly what you want. The sheet keeps the bread from drying out between the case and the customer.

Boxed and bagged: a wrapped item slides into a clamshell or a paper sack without catching, because the fold is tight. If the wrap goes into a closed bag with fries, go grease-resistant so the steam does not soften the sheet before the customer gets home.

Inks, Pantone matches and artwork files for this sheet

We print with food-safe soy and water-based inks on the outside face only. Choose one, two or three spot colors, or full color on a white stock. On kraft or black, white ink is the color that pops.

Send a Pantone number or a printed sample and we match it. Vector PDF, AI or EPS files give the cleanest edge; a PNG or JPG is fine for a one-color mark. If all you have is a photo of your sign, we redraw a simple wordmark at no charge.

Absorbent paper softens thin type and hairlines, so the proof thickens them before anything prints. Check the proof against the smallest text on your sheet, not the logo. The artwork guide for files and line weights lists what to send.

How is printed wrapping paper packed, stored and reordered?

Sheets arrive flat in cases, labeled with size and stock, so a line cook can read the end of the box from across the shelf. Keep cases closed and off the floor; wrap paper picks up moisture from a wet dish pit and loses its crisp fold.

Reorders use the approved proof on file. Tell us the sheet size and quantity and the run goes straight to press with no new proof unless you change something. Groups with several stores can split one run across addresses.

Work out a reorder point before the first case runs low. Count how many sheets a busy shift uses, multiply by the shifts between deliveries, and add a week.

Five mistakes that waste a first order of wrapping paper

  1. Choosing a centered logo for a wrap job. It disappears under the fold. Pick a repeat and keep the logo for liners.
  2. Ordering dry wax for a hot, greasy burger. Spots show through within a minute. Grease-resistant stock is the right call.
  3. Sizing the sheet to the plated item, not the stacked one. Measure the tallest build on your menu.
  4. Sending a screenshot of a logo. Edges go fuzzy on paper. A vector file or a clear photo of the sign is better.
  5. Approving the proof on a phone screen. Open the PDF at full size and read the smallest line.
